Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – NICU RN Night Shift in Everett, WA

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse with specialized NICU experience to become an integral part of our dynamic healthcare team. Shift / Schedule

  • Night Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
  • Hours: 18:30 to 07:00

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Patient ratio experience of 1:3
  • Proficient use of Epic charting system (required)
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS and NRP
  • Experience working in NICU III and NICU IV settings (NICU IV required)
  • Expertise caring for neonates under 24-28 weeks (required); also 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks
  • Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Competence in feedings including bottle, breast, and gavage feeding methods
  • Experience placing and managing oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
  • Knowledge and adherence to infectious disease isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • IV therapy skills including arterial line management, central/implanted line care, umbilical artery catheter (UAC), and umbilical vein catheter (UVC)
  • Administering specialized medications such as IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
  • Management of neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Proven respiratory care skills with ventilator management including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP (required)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates in NICU III and IV settings, with a focus on critically ill newborns
  • Effectively manage ventilator settings and respiratory support tailored to each neonate’s condition
  • Manage IV lines, arterial and umbilical catheters, ensuring sterile technique and proper function
  • Carry out precise medication administration, including emergency and specialized neonatal drugs
  • Use Epic system for accurate and thorough clinical documentation and communication with the multidisciplinary team
  • Monitor and interpret cardiovascular and neurologic status, including dysrhythmias and neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Support feeding strategies and nutritional management for neonates via various feeding techniques
  • Follow strict infection control protocols and ensure isolation precautions are properly implemented
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care
  • Respond promptly and competently to emergencies and changes in patient condition as charge nurse or team member

Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington
  • Current certification in BLS and NRP
  • Demonstrated proficiency in NICU care and ventilator management
  • Excellent clinical judgment and ability to work autonomously during overnight shifts
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to high-stress situations and provide compassionate care
  • Prior travel nursing experience with familiarity navigating new clinical environments
